Years of experience may tell you that you have the competence you need to accomplish great things or to overcome the most difficult moments. Or maybe riding upon the confidence you have developed will provide the ability to push through challenge. The combination of both of these is what helps challenge change us into who God desires for us.
Notice the infinity loop in the drawing above. We are constantly moving from competence to confidence, it can even depend on the day or moment. We encounter struggles of all sorts but it is up to us to move with both in our tool belt. There is no way a person can simply change a habit or addiction through individual confidence. There are not enough self-help books in this world or programs to make you change. Change comes from within. The connection between these two things is God. God is the infinity loop. Jesus Christ makes the loop continue and only through His support, love, and power can we use competence and confidence to change habit and addiction into consistent purpose.
